B & V Water Treatment have once again been awarded certification from Buildcert Ltd the industry standard for domestic hot water central heating systems for their new product’s Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500. Although B & V Water Treatment develop a lot of new products year on year thanks to their exceptional research and development team, which are regularly certified by industry standards agencies; Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 are product’s that deserves special attention.
What is so special about Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500?
The chemistry behind Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 (a dilution of Polyhib VX concentrate) is fantastic. Our excellent team of scientist developed the product using both organic and inorganic building blocks. This has resulted in a product that provides superb corrosion and scaling protection, as well as being non-nitrate, non-phosphate and non-Borate (borate is currently on the Reach list of chemicals that are of high concern).
Product Details
This innovative product development has led to the production of chemical’s that have the following key characteristics and specifications.
Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 are non-toxic closed circuit inhibitors for hot or chilled water systems. Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 are composed of an aqueous solution of organic and inorganic corrosion inhibitors. Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 have a near neutral PH and low levels of toxicity. They protect steel, cast iron, copper, brass and aluminum providing excellent corrosion control and can be used in both domestic and industrial central heating systems. Polyhib VX is suitable for all water qualities and to a typical central heating system (70 litre) would require a dose of 250 ml’s; Polyhib VX500 would be dosed at a rate of 500 ml in a 100 litre system.
Benefits of using Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500
Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 are fantastic new products in the fight against corrosion and scaling that will help prolong the life of your water and central heating systems. Each year the damage caused by corrosion and scale in water and central heating systems costs organisations and individuals millions of pounds in the UK alone. Introducing Polyhib VX into your system will significantly reduce the build-up of calcium based scales in your system while limiting corrosion to a minimum, prolonging the life of the system and ultimately saving you money. We think these product’s are fantastic and a worthwhile purchase for anyone but don’t just take our word for it take a look at the fantastic results Polyhib VX produced when obtaining industry certification.
Test Results
In order to be awarded certification from Buildcert Polyhib VX had to pass a series of tests, looking to establish the corrosion rate, scaling tendency and compatibility with non-metallic materials of the inhibitor. Polyhib VX obtained the following fantastic results in each section.
Corrosion rate determination:
Polyhib VX passed the corrosion rate determination test with flying colours producing corrosion rates well below the standards set by Buildcert Limited. Not only was the rate of corrosion below the levels expected in the industry but there were only slight signs of corrosion in the crevices at the mounting point of the metal plates used in this test. The rest of the plates showed no signs of corrosive attack and there was no sign of pitting corrosion on any of the plates used in the tests. Below is an image of the plates used in the study after the test where completed.

Scaling Tendency
Polyhib VX had outstanding results in the scaling tendency test. Only 2 of the 3 groups showed any change in calcium levels over the test period and with the level of change only being slight. This meant that over all Polyhib VX had a average change in calcium levels of -2% well below the -15% recommended limit. This shows just how fantastic Polyhib VX is at limiting scaling.

Compatibility with non-metallic materials
Polyhib VX also performed well in the non-metallic materials test with the volume of swells of the rubber used in the test below the 10% standard set; there were also no apparent signs of deterioration on the rubber used in the test when examined by a stereo zoom microscope.
As you can see the results where fantastic almost exceeding our own expectations and Polyhib VX500’s results were equally as impressive. So to place an order or to find out more out about Polyhib VX and Polyhib VX500 or for any other technical enquiries please contact either:
