Closed System Chemicals
B & V’s extensive range of technically advanced closed circuit water treatment chemicals have been developed for use with a wide range of different types of low and high pressure hot water heating boiler plant and chilled water systems. The quality chemicals will prevent the occurrence of the problems associated with this type of plant such as hard water scale, boiler corrosion, pipework corrosion, sludge formation and microbiological fouling.
The chemicals we provide ensure that the boiler plant is maintained at maximum efficiency, extend the equipment life and at the same time reducing maintenance costs. We also have a range of chemicals for steam boilers and cooling systems.
The range also includes pre-commission cleaning chemicals for closed systems. The cleaning of a newly installed or refurbished heating and chilled water systems before they are introduced into the service has become more important over recent years due to the equipment used being more susceptible to blockages at strainers, control valves and small bore heat exchangers. Water systems contaminants such as millscale, jointing compounds, oil, grease and fabricating debris need to be removed by chemical cleaning and high velocity flushing, which will then allow a water treatment regime to function correctly and prevent corrosion and microbiological fouling. Older systems that have accumulated deposits due to a lack of the correct water treatment can be cleaned by a similar method.
Corrosion Inhibitors
BV154
A multifunctional, borate nitrate based product to control corrosion in closed cooling systems, chiller water systems and hot water heating systems. A liquid product giving excellent corrosion protection for mild steel systems and also contains a copper and brass corrosion inhibitor. This product is not suitable for systems containing aluminium.
BV205
A liquid product with a high level of nitrate for use in larger systems where economy is important. Multifunctional, borate nitrate based product to control corrosion in closed cooling systems, chiller water systems and hot water heating systems. Gives excellent corrosion protection for mild steel systems and also contains a copper and brass corrosion inhibitor. This product is not suitable for systems containing aluminium.
BV202
A corrosion inhibitor developed for use in multi metal heating and chilled water systems, especially those containing aluminium. A liquid product containing molybdate and organic phosphate and can be used in domestic heating systems up to very large industrial heating and cooling systems.
BV206
A corrosion inhibitor for use in systems requiring excellent resistance against aluminium corrosion and also systems that are semi open to the atmosphere. Dose at 2.5% for optimum results.
BV203
A non-toxic corrosion inhibitor for use in small multi metal heating and chilled water systems, including those containing aluminium. Phosphate based formulation.
BV639
A nitrite / molybdate based multi-metal corrosion inhibitor for closed circuit heating and chilled water systems. Economical in use.
BV491
Closed circuit buffer is to correct the pH of closed circuits which have an elevated pH. Of particular use in systems containing Aluminium, where an optimal pH of between 6.5 and 7.5 should be maintained.
Pre-Commission Cleaners / Flushing Cleaners
BV140
A highly effective, neutral, pre-commission cleaning chemical for new systems where mill scale, oil, grease and other fabrication contaminates need to be removed prior to commissioning the water system. Disperses light iron oxide deposits and passivates bare metal surfaces. Dose at 1%.BV155

Dosing of Closed System Water Treatment Chemicals
Closed system chemicals are ideally dosed automatically via a precise chemical pump that is controlled by equipment that will give the correct amount of chemical for the application. One such popular method for closed systems is to link the chemical pump to a water meter that is measuring the make up water quantity so that chemical is replenished as water is added. However some systems will have very low make up, but as inhibitor levels may fall, it is essential to carry out periodic chemical tests to ensure that the the correct inhibitor levels are maintained.
