Steam Boiler Water Chemicals
B & V’s extensive range of technically advanced steam boiler water treatment chemicals have been developed for use with a wide range of different types of steam boiler plants – from low to high pressure. The quality boiler water chemicals will prevent the occurrence of the problems associated with this type of plant, such as hard water scale, boiler corrosion, condensate line corrosion, fouling and sludge by suspended solids and boiler water foaming.
Our products ensure that the boiler plant is maintained at maximum efficiency, and at the same time reducing maintenance costs. Our closed system chemicals are also relevant to low and high pressure hot water boilers and chilled water systems.
Our aim with these products is to:
- Treat the water before it goes to the boiler
- Maximise the amount of condensate
- Protect the boiler from scale and corrosion
- Protect the condensate pipes from corrosion
- Avoid problems and shut downs
- Extend equipment life
- Monitor and control treatment levels.
The range of chemicals includes oxygen scavengers, scale and corrosion inhibitors, sludge control agents, condensate line treatments, pH adjusters and antifoams.
Oxygen Scavengers
BV171
A concentrated solution of catalysed sodium sulphite which removes oxygen in steam boiler systems up to pressures of 60 bar. Dose via a chemical dosing pump, ideally to the feed tank to allow time for the oxygen to be absorbed before entering the steam boiler. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV173
A tannin based oxygen scavenger ideally suited to low temperature feed waters. Since the dose rate is not dependant on the feed water temperature (compared with sulphite) and being organic it does not add to the boiler water conductivity. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV169
A volatile, liquid, catalysed solution of diethyl hydroxylamine (DEHA) used to remove dissolved oxygen from the feed water for medium to high pressure systems. It minimises oxygen pitting and corrosion potential and is designed for use in many types of steam boiler systems. Does not add to boiler TDS. It is the preferred replacement for the suspected carcinogen hydrazine.BV177
A liquid oxygen scavenger, containing sodium metabisulphate, DEHA and a neutralising amine. For use in small systems. The formulation is designed to prevent pitting corrosion throughout the whole boiler system.BV681
A liquid carbohydrazide solution used for scavenging oxygen and passivating metal surfaces. It can be used as a direct replacement for hydrazine in any boiler without the associated safety hazards and handling precautions. It can be used in boilers of any pressure, up to and including supercritical pressure (220 bar).BV166
A liquid oxygen scavenger and metal passivator based upon sodium erythorbate for use in high pressure boilers. It can be used where the steam comes into contact with food or food products. Can be used in boiler plants operating up to 40 barBV 449
A mixture of sodium erythorbate and neutralising amine for use in high pressure boilers as an oxygen scavenger, metal passivator and condensate line corrosion inhibitor. It can be used where the steam comes into contact with food or food products as long as the neutralising amine is less than 15ppm in the condense.Dispersant Sludge Conditioners
BV31
A high stability versatile polymer sludge control chemical for use as a steam boiler scale and sludge conditioner. Can be used in systems up to 70 bar g.(1000psi) and complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV32
A combined phosphate and polymer treatment for use as a scale and sludge conditioner for steam boilers. For use with softened or low hardness waters, the phosphate reacts with the hardness whilst the polymer provides dispersion of the calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphate and silica, preventing scales adhering to the metal surfaces.BV34
A combined phosphate and polymer treatment for use as a scale and sludge conditioner for steam boilers, particularly effective against calcium silicate. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV35
A blend of sulphonated polymers and sequestrants for general sludge dispersal and control of iron deposits. Does not contain phosphates. Will remove scale on line if dosed with a good soft water supply and good caustic alkalinity.BV36
A blend of sulphonated polymers and sequestrants, useful for cleaning scale and sludge from boilers whilst they are on-line.BV37
A blend of sulphonated polymers and polyacrylate. Complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV666
A combined phosphate and sulphonated polymer, partially neutralised with potassium hydroxide. Suitable for low hardness, softened and dealkalised feedwater.Condensate Line Corrosion Inhibitors
BV214
A solution of cyclohexylamine for preventing corrosion in condensate systems. Ideal for use in long pipework where the condensate may be cooler.BV219
A mixture of cyclohexylamine and morpholine for preventing corrosion in condensate pipework.BV222
A mixture of cyclohexylamine and AMP for preventing corrosion in condensate pipework.BV224
A mixture of cyclohexylamine, morpholine and DEAE. An extremely effective product for preventing corrosion of the complete condensate pipework system.BV218
A filming amine formulated to prevent corrosion of condensate pipework. Should be injected directly into the steam header.BV216
A combination of filming amines and neutralising amines for the prevention of condensate pipework corrosionBV223
A blend of neutralising amines and volatile oxygen scavenger for the protection of boiler condensate lines.BV467
A low toxicity condensate line corrosion inhibitor. FDA approved for use in steam raising plant where the steam contacts food. Maximum approved dose rate 20ppm.Multipurpose Chemicals
BV145
A multipurpose sulphite based product for smaller steam boilers. Contains catalysed sulphite, phosphates and antifoam.BV150
A multipurpose sulphite based product for smaller steam boilers. Contains catalysed sulphite, polymer, phosphates, antifoam and caustic for pH correction.BV148
A multipurpose sulphite based product for small to medium steam boilers. An aqueous solution of catalysed sulphite.BV149
A multipurpose sulphite based product for small to medium steam boilers. An aqueous solution of catalysed sulphite, polymers, phosphate and antifoam. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.BV144
A multipurpose tannin based oxygen scavenger with added alkalinity. Developed for steam boilers and LPHW systems.pH Adjusters
BV24
A caustic based product that can be used as a pH adjuster for steam boilers where there is insufficient alkalinity in the feed water. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.Antifoams
BV1
An antifoam suitable for steam boilers to prevent foaming and carryover of the boiler water into the steam. Acts at the water steam interface to control foam generation. This product complies with FDA regulations for steam that comes into contact with food.Miscellaneous Chemicals
BV43
A highly active acid cleaner and descaler based upon sulphamic acid. Powdered formulation. Also includes a corrosion inhibitor to protect carbon steel, copper and brass against acid attack. It can be used on a wide variety of metals including stainless steel.BV81
A highly active acid cleaner and descaler based upon hydrochloric acid. Also includes a corrosion inhibitor to protect carbon steel, copper and brass against acid attack. Do not use on stainless steel. Removes both Calcium and iron deposits.BV243
A combination of strong alkalis and surfactants for removing grease and manufacturing debris for new steam boilers before commissioning and being placed into service.Dosing of Boiler Water Chemicals
Water treatment chemicals are ideally dosed automatically via a precise chemical pump that is controlled by equipment that will give the correct amount of chemical for the application. There are several methods of achieving this and two such popular methods are to link the pump to a water meter or to the operation of the boiler feed pump so that the dosing is proportional to the steam load. Some condensate treatment chemicals need to be dosed to the steam header and this requires a similar method of dosing control.
