Steam Boiler Water Treatment Chemicals
B & Vs extensive range of technically advanced steam boiler water treatment chemicals have been developed for use with a wide range of different types of steam boiler plant from low to high pressure. The quality boiler water chemicals will prevent the occurence of the problems associated with this type of plant such as scale, boiler corrosion, condensate line corrosion, sludge formation and foaming, thus maintaining the boiler plant at maximum efficiency and at the same time reducing maintenance costs. We also have Closed System Chemicals for low and high pressure hot water boilers and chilled water systems.

Oxygen Scavengers
BV669 |
A concentrated solution of sodium sulphite used to absorb oxygen in steam boiler systems up to pressures of 60 bar. Dose via a chemical dosing pump, ideally to the feed tank to allow time for the oxygen to be absorbed before entering the steam boiler. |
BV173 |
A tannin based oxygen scavenger ideally suited to low temperature feed waters since the dose rate is not dependant on the feed-water temperature (compared with sulphite) and being organic it does not add to the boiler water conductivity. |
BV169 |
A volatile, liquid, catalysed solution of diethylhydroxylamine (DEHA) used to remove dissolved oxygen from the feed water for medium to high pressure systems. It minimizes oxygen pitting and corrosion potential and is designed for use in many types of steam boiler systems. It is the preferred replacement for the suspected carcinogen hydrazine. Cannot be used where the steam comes into contact with food or food products. |
BV177 |
A liquid oxygen scavenger containing sodium metabisulphite, DEHA and a neutralising amine. For use in small systems where the removal of oxygen in the condensate is required to prevent pitting corrosion. |
BV652 |
A powdered carbohydrazide organic corrosion inhibitor used for scavenging oxygen and passivating metal surfaces. It can be used as a direct replacement for hydrazine in any boiler without the associated safety hazards and handling precautions. It can be used in boilers of any pressure, up to and including supercritical pressure (220 bar) . Cannot be used when the steam is in contact with food or food products. |
BV681 |
A liquid Carbohydrazide solutuion used for scavenging oxygen and passivating metal surfaces. It can be used as a direct replacement for hydrazine in any boiler without the associated safety hazards and handling precautions. It can be used in boilers of any pressure, up to and including supercritical pressure (220 bar). Cannot be used when the steam is in contact with food or food products. |
BV166 |
A liquid oxygen scavenger and metal passivator based upon sodium erythorbate for use in high pressure boilers. Can be used where the steam comes into contact with food or food products. |
BV189 |
A mixture of sodium erythorbate and neutralising amine for use in high pressure boilers as an oxygen scxavenger, metal passivator and condensate line corrosion inhibitor. Can be used where the steam comes into contact with food or food products as long as the neutralising amine is less than 15ppm in the condense. |
Dispersant Sludge Conditioners
Condensate Line Corrosion Inhibitors |
BV666 |
A solution of cyclohexylamine for preventing corrosion in condensate systems. Ideal for use in long pipework systems where the condense may be cooler. |
BV219
A mixture of cylcohexylamine and morpholine for preventing corrosion in condensate pipework. Is more useful than cyclohexylamine or morpholine being used individually. |
BV222 |
A mixture of cyclohexylamine and AMP for preventing corrosion in condensate pipework. |
BV224 |
A mixture of cyclohexylamine, morpholine and DEAE and is the preferred neutralising amine product for preventing corrosion of the complete condensate pipework system. |
BV218 |
A filming amine for preventing corrosion of condensate pipework from oxygen pitting and acidic attack by carbon dioxide. Should be injected directly into the steam header. |
BV216 |
A combination of volatile filming amine and neutralising amine for preventing corrosion of condensate pipework by oxygen pitting and acidic attack by carbon dioxide. |
BV223 |
A combination of DEHA as oxygen scavenger and metal passivator plus a neutralising amine to prevent acidic corrosion in condensate systems |
Mulipurpose Chemicals
BV145
A multi-purpose sulphite based product for smaller steam boilers. Contains catalysed bisulphite, for rapid and complete oxygen scavenging, phosphates for the control of precipitation, and powerful antiscalants and dispersants to mobilise hardness or iron oxide sludges and prevent thereby prevent scale |
BV150 |
A multi-purpose sulphite based product for smaller steam boilers. Contains catalysed bisulphite, for rapid and complete oxygen scavenging, phosphates for the control of precipitation, powerful antiscalants and dispersants to mobilise hardness or iron oxide sludges and caustic for pH correction. |
BV148 |
A multi-purpose sulphite based product for small to medium steam boilers. Contains catalysed bisulphite, for rapid and complete oxygen scavenging, phosphates for the control of precipitation, and powerful antiscalants and dispersants to mobilise hardness or iron oxide sludges and prevent thereby prevent scale |
BV144
A multi-purpose tannin based oxygen scavenger with added alkalinity and polymer sludge, conditioners. Developed for steam boilers and LPHW systems, it can be used with softened or moderately hard make-up, and in many instances provides a complete balanced treatment by itself |
pH Adjusters
BV24 |
A caustic based product that can be used as a pH adjuster for steam boilers where there is insufficient alkalinity in the feed water. |
Antifoams

BV243 |
A combination of strong alkalies and surfactants for removing grease and manufacturing debris from new steam boilers before commissioning and being placed into service. |
Dosing of Boiler Water Chemicals
Water treatment chemicals are ideally dosed automatically via a precise chemical pump that is controlled by equipment that will give the correct amount of chemical for the application. There are several methods of achieving this and two such popular method are to link the pump to a water meter or to the operation of the boiler feed pump so that the dosing is proportional to the steam load. Some condensate treatment chemicals need to be dosed to the steam header and this requires a simliar method of dosing control.
The B & V Water Treatment range of chemicals for inhibiting scale, corrosion and fouling in heating and cooling systems are available for water treatment professionals with their own brand label and logo on the packaging. The above product formulations can be adjusted for the individual needs
The facilities that we offer allow the water treatment professional customer more time to concentrate on water treatment sales and service without the added involvement in manufacturing.
