Water Treatment Services |
|
The manufacture and supply of water treatment chemicals to prevent the problems of hard water scale, corrosion, deposits and microbiological fouling in water systems only represents one part of the total package of services offered by B&V. The ancillary water treatment services and activities below, offer solutions to a mulltitude of problems that are encountered with the use of water and will ensure that our clients can operate their water systems at maximum efficiency and keep maintenance at a minimum. |

The risk assessment of water services for the control of legionellosis is an essential requirement of the Health and Safety Executive. The service offered by B & V not only identifies the risks for each water system but also provides the operation and maintenance procedures to ensure that the building services manager, maintenance personnel and contractors can comply with the current legislation.

The clean and disinfection of water systems is an essential maintenance procedure in the requirements of the H.S.E. for the prevention of legionellosis. Also the effectiveness of a water treatment regime such as corrosion inhibitors and biocides when used in cooling towers is strongly influenced by the cleanliness of the system.
Hot and cold water services and other systems that may create a risk from legionella require regular cleaning and disinfecting to ensure hygiene is maintained

The build up of hardwater scale in boilers, heat exchangers, cooling towers and pipework reduces the efficiency of heating equipment. Acid washing is the only satisfactory method of removing scale deposits. Heat exchangers that use river or sea water for cooling can also build up deposits due to biological or suspended matter fouling. These types of deposits can be removed by specially formulated alkaline cleaners. Our wide experience of formulating chemicals will ensure the correct chemical for the problem presented.

The pre-commission cleaning of hot water heating systems and chilled water systems has become more important over recent years due to the equipment used being more succeptable to blockages at strainers, control valves and small bore heat exchangers. System contaminants such as millscale, jointing compounds, and fabricating debris need to removed by chemical cleaning and high velocity flushing, which will then allow a water treatment regime to prevent corrosion. Older systems that have acumulated deposits due to lack of the correct water treatment can be cleaned by a similar method.

Poor quality water due to the formation of rust, scale, debris and biological deposits make the hygiene of water storage tanks an essential part of a maintenance programme. Our specialist water tank refurbishment service can restore existing water storage tanks to H.S.E and Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. Where the condition of a tank makes replacement a preferred option new tanks can be supplied Cooling towers that do not conform to the HSE requirements can have cooling pack replaced, drift eliminators upgraded, corroded tanks refurbished etc.
