We can offer face to face specialist services relating to water and effluent management targeted at commercial and industrial water users and effluent producers, together with more general services focussed on general environmental management.

Assessment, minimisation and management of water company charges

Bills are audited and related to the scale of water use identified on sites, both for domestic and process usage. Levels of inefficient water use, wastage and leakage are assessed through the derivation of a water balance. Refunds for incorrect billing (e.g. non-applicable surface water charges) are pursued, whilst an implementation plan is outlined and progressed to reduced water usage, effluent production and enhanced allowance claims in order to minimise future site water charges.

Industrial water management, process assessment and minimisation

We undertake reviews of water and wastewater treatment plants in order to enhance environmental compliance, reduce consumption/discharge and to reduce operational costs. This is conducted through a review of process design, training of key staff, implementing monitoring systems with subsequent improvement feedback loops and design of alternative treatment processes. Similar reviews are conducted within production areas/lines and processes and feasible (attractive payback & practicality) concepts are reported to the client. Where implemented, we will undertake the work to install, commission and/or manage the improvement.

Water balances for IPPC/EPR permitting

Environmental permitting requires that most applicable industrial sectors require a water balance to be constructed. We undertake this work to identify and measure all water and effluent inputs and outputs. Degrees of certainty are applied to the level of detail and accuracy of data and an ultimate balance is produced to indicate where inefficient resource use occurs. The balance also requires that a timetable of improvements to water use efficiency is made and that this is rigorously implemented.

Water consumption monitoring and leakage detection

We undertake the supply and installation of equipment to monitor water consumption with data-loggers. The resulting data is collected and analysed with an explanatory report and recommendations issued to the client. Where required, we can also supply equipment and undertakes leakage detection services to locate unexplained water losses. Where required, site surveys to locate water services can be conducted and mapping carried out to plot the information using AutoCAD.

Water and effluent treatment plant quality monitoring

We utilise our technical experience and ability in scientific monitoring of treatment plants. Sample collection with either on-site quality analysis or subsequent laboratory analysis is conducted and results used to ensure the cost efficiency and environmental compliance operation of process.

Design and Implementation of Environmental Management Systems

We can develop, implement and operationally manage an EMS to meet the requirements of ISO14001 or BS8555.
