A major cause of corrosion in boilers is dissolved oxygen, particularly in conjunction with low pH (low alkalinity) although excessive alkalinity can also be a factor. Chemical oxygen scavengers are used to eliminate oxygen from the feed water.
How to Use Scale & Corrosion Inhibitors
Oxygen scavengers use chemicals such as sodium sulfite, tannin and carbohydrazide to remove dissolved oxygen in the boiler feedwater.
This product is specifically designed to protect the boiler return line from corrosion and help maintain water quality. Filming amines are generally dosed into the steam lines and form a protective film on the surface of the condensate lines. Neutralising amines enter the condensate lines with the steam and neutralise the carbonic acid thereby raising the pH.

Using dispersants and sludge conditioners in water systems prevents mineral particles from settling and forming deposits. Creating a buildup of sludge or scale can stunt water flow, damage equipment, and impact the effectiveness of your system.
These are used as a steam boiler descaling treatment, preventing scales from adhering to the sides of metal surfaces. Polymer-based dispersants are often applied to water systems in soft or low-hardness water areas.

The ideal pH level for boilers is around 10.5-12. This level mitigates the risk of scaling and corrosion by maintaining a protective film. Alkalinity builders and pH adjusters help raise the pH levels and protective properties to improve your system's efficiency and longevity.
Sodium hydroxide is an effective alkalinity booster that improves water's alkaline levels. It buffers water's capacity to neutralise acidic impurities and restricts changes in alkaline levels. Many alkalinity boosters can be formulated for specific boiler water treatment.
