Master efficient site management with chemical pump over deliveries

In the realm of water treatment, managing chemical usage is a critical aspect of operations, especially for large-scale users with steam boilers or cooling towers on site.

As per the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and other Health and Safety Executive (HSE) documentation, it's a legal requirement for all employers to control the use of chemicals at work.

One efficient solution to this is the use of on-site chemical pump over deliveries. In this blog post, we delve into the specifics of chemical pump over deliveries, the safety measures in place, and what we require from our customers to ensure a safe and efficient delivery process.

Chemical pump over deliveries

This method, carried out by our experienced and well-trained B & V Chemicals drivers, delivers water treatment chemicals directly into designated tanks on site. This process not only streamlines operations but also minimises the risk of exposure to potentially harmful chemicals by eliminating the need for employees to handle them.

What we need from you: a pump over audit form

All we need from our customers, before an order for a chemical pump is placed with our orders team, is a completed pump over audit form.

The idea of the audit form is not to create paperwork or to be a pain to our customers but rather to have a simple way of checking that all the precautions are in place to ensure deliveries are made in a safe, efficient and controlled manner by our drivers.

What the pump over audit covers

The pump over audit form covers three main areas:

  • Physical aspects such as the site access, lighting, power supply, any special fittings required to connect the delivery hose to the cam-locks on the bulk tank, tank size, bund size.
  • Health and safety aspects such as location of first aid facilities and details of the site first aider, availability of SDS information, correct labelling of the tank and bunding
  • Site requirements such as permits and site engineer supervision.
  • Site specific information so the driver knows who to contact when on site, location of the bulk tanks, and the distance from the nearest parking location to the tanks

Ready to get started?

If you are a B & V Chemicals Own Label customer and one of your customers has installed bulk tanks and therefore requires future deliveries as pump overs, please help us to make sure the first pump over delivery is carried out safely and smoothly.

Contact us to request a pump over audit form, fill this in with the requested site specific details and then send back to us well in advance of the first pump over delivery.
